Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra played on more Pennant-Winners (14) and World Championships (10) than any other player in baseball history. He had 358 home runs and lifetime .285 batting average, and set many records for catchers including 148 consecutive games without an error. Yogi was voted A.L. MVP in 1951, 1954 and 1955. He also managed the Yankees to the pennant in 1964. Yogi was a master at calling pitches and handling a pitching staff, he caught two no-hitters by Allie Reynolds in 1951 and Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series. He also coached the New York Mets and in 1973 lead them to a N.L. pennant joining Joe McCarthy as the second manager to win pennants in both leagues.



The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center established in 1998 features Hall of Fame type exhibits, displays and films, including the very mitt Yogi used for catching during Don Larsen's perfect 1956 World Series, along with other artifacts borrowed from Cooperstown. The museum captures some of the most memorable events in the history of Baseball from 19th and 20th centuries, a detailed view at the history of the New York Yankees, the building of the Yankee Stadium, and Yogi Berra's personal life and his dedication to children. The Yogi Berra Stadium next door is home to the New Jersey Jackals of the Northern League and Montclair State University Red Hawks. The museum build along the first-base line features the only sky box seats in the park.
